Services:  The BVS Early Childhood Program provides early intervention and services for children birth through two and preschool services

for children three to five.  Services include speech therapy, OT/PT, family education and special education, with special ed offered through an

integrated setting.  Therapies aim to treat delays early, allowing youths to receive a level of skill appropriate to their age.  The program is

centered around the whole child, including both instruction and play time.  The focus is not just on academics but on appropriate ways to interact

with others, solve problems and resolve conflicts with other children

Services: 

Ready, Set, Parent! is a national parent education program for parents of newborns.  EPIC - Every Person Influences Children and Baker Victory Services designed this hospital based program to focus on parents' roles in promoting developmental

growth in their babies.  Beginning with the hospital experience and extending into community workshops, topics emphasize health, wellness, safety and nutrition of new babies.  Content is also focused on literacy language development and school

Services:  The purpose of The Buffalo Prenatal-Perinatal Network is to improve pregnancy outcomes, promote better maternal and

child/infant healthcare, establish better linkages between existing programs and ensure that families have access to the full range of

preventive and primary health care, social support, and educational resources in the City of Buffalo and Erie County.  The Network

provides the following services:  Buffalo Home Visiting Program, Community Action for Prenatal Care, Lead Safe Housing Program and the

Services:  The Child Care Coalition's Resource and Referral Department provides referral lists of NYS licensed day care centers and

registered family and group family providers to parents requesting that information. The list is generated after taking specific information from

the parent, such as name address, ages of children, if they are eligible for financial assistance, where they are looking for care, etc.  The

Department also provides “What to look for in child care” check lists

Services:  A comprehensive program serving pregnant and parenting adolescents through the age of 20, who have infants and toddlers

0-3 and reside in the City of Buffalo.  Services are provided through three options:  center based, home based and pregnant teen option. 

Services include health/mental health counseling, nutrition, infant/toddler development, transition, social services, male support and

opportunities for parent involvement.  Spanish/English staff available

United Way of Buffalo and Erie County—Success By 6

Services:  Success By 6, a national movement led by the United Way, in connection with the Early Childhood Direction Center at Kaleida

Health and the Erie County Department of Social Services, sponsors the Erie County Helpline for young children.  The Helpline is a

FREE service which provides child care providers and parents immediate access to support for their children either over the phone or

through on-site observations

 

The Quality Improvement Project offers child care centers technical assistance and support toward program improvement using Harms,

Clifford and Cryer Environmental Rating Scales. Participation in the project is an excellent way for child care centers/family providers to

improve the quality of care they provide as well as preparing them for the rigors of national accreditation

 

The Training Specialist offers four 6-hour NYS approved training courses focused on early childhood social/emotional development.

Providers can receive training in nurturing responsible children, emotional development and reframing discipline.  On site trainings can be

conducted for a minimum of 20 students
